Beamtime allocation at PX-BL beamlines at SPring-8

Thank you for your understanding on the operation of the SPring-8 facility.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the suspension of user operation at SPring-8 due to the COVID-19. We are currently making adjustments to resume the operation, but at the moment we are not in a situation to predict the resumption.

However, in order to restart user experiments smoothly after resumption, we have decided to allocate beamtime at PX-BL (Life Science 1 field; Macromolecular crystallography) according to the following rules.

  1. If you have an already allocated beam time after the resumption, you can perform experiments as scheduled. But you can cancel it if you wish.
  2. When the resumption schedule is decided, we will conduct a new beamtime survey and/or additional beamtime call. Those who could not carry out scheduled experiments are requested to wait for this survey or additional call. New beam time may be allocated taking the lost beamtime into account.
  3. We are also planning a call for new proposals.
  4. Regarding experiments without visits (incl. automatic measurement and mail-in service), there is a possibility that an earlier resumption date may be set than experiments with visits. Please regularly check emails from SPring-8 and this web page.
  5. We are now prioritizing COVID-19 related research. If you have a plan to do it, please contact the person in charge as described in the following web page.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact us » pxbl (followed by @spring8.or.jp).
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
